We recently installed our 100th new heating system as part of our strategy to ensure our homes are warm and affordable.
Homes in Easingwold, Northallerton and Richmond have had new gas central heating systems fitted using funding of £860,969 from National Grid’s Warm Homes Fund.
This is a fund designed to help more than four million homes across the country who struggle to pay for heating and are relying on expensive or inefficient systems.
Over 300 homes will eventually benefit from heating systems, with properties in areas such as Hutton Rudby, Great Ayton, Bedale, Thirsk and Scarborough also part of the programme.
These are areas which have gas supplies, but they do not extend to our homes due to their location. Using the funding, as well as installing the boilers, we are also extending the supplies to homes which previously had to rely on much less efficient and more cost electric storage heaters.
During the process we are also making improvements to the fabric of homes, including topping up loft insulation and improving window and door insulation.
Separately, we have also began a programme to install air source heating systems in homes in rural areas where gas is not available and people are using electric storage heaters or oil-powered heating.
