Broadacres Chair Helen Simpson was recently awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for services to charity.
Helen received her OBE in the Queen’s birthday honour’s list, which was announced in October.
An OBE is awarded to people who make a substantial impact in their line of work and in Helen’s case, this was for her contribution to the St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity.
This is a national charity which supports people away from homelessness through the Vicar’s Relief Fund, the Frontline Network and The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Field
Helen has been a Trustee at the charity since 2014.
Speaking about her OBE, Helen said: “It’s not something I expected but it is a lovely honour which I am very proud of.
“It really should be shared with my other trustees at St Martin-in-the-Fields, along with the Chief Executive and staff who do such an amazing job trying to alleviate homelessness in the UK.”
Broadacres’ Chief Executive Gail Teasdale said: “On behalf of everyone at Broadacres, I would like to congratulate Helen on receiving this fantastic honour.
“It’s particularly fitting that the OBE is in recognition of her work at a charity which aims to help people avoid being homeless, which forms an important part of Broadacres’ strategy too.”
