One of Richmondshire’ oldest residents has celebrated her 106th birthday.
Friends and family joined Alice Tidyman to mark her 106th birthday.
Among those helping Alice Tidyman to celebrate at her home at Kirkwood Hall in Leyburn were some of her 18 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren, with five generations coming together.
Alice, who can remember the end of the First World War a 100 years ago, was born in High Coniscliffe, near Darlington, before the family moved to a farm in Melmerby.
he later moved to Calbergh in Coverdale where she raised a family.
Alice was presented with some flowers by Gail Teasdale, chief executive of Broadacres, which runs Kirkwood Hall.
She said: “It was an hour to meet Alice who is looking so well for 106.
“It’s lovely that people can age gracefully surrounded by family and friends and they don’t have to live miles away from their community.”
Alice was poorly for her last two birthdays, but her family were delighted she was at home to celebrate her 106th.
