Broadacres has once again been included in the prestigious Sunday Times list of the ‘Top 100 best not-for-profit organisations to work for’, after achieving – for the third consecutive time – a Best Companies accreditation.

The organisation is in 53rd position in this year’s list.

Broadacres, which employs just over 300 people and owns and manages over 6,000 properties across North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas, was rated by Best Companies following an employee survey.

Staff were asked to score their employer on eight key measures, including how they feel about their leaders, colleagues, training, pay and benefits and general health and wellbeing when they are at work.

Best Companies highlighted three particular areas where Broadacres is performing well:

  • Wellbeing – Broadacres use the Health and Safety Executive’s toolkit to help identify areas that are causing employees to feel stressed and then draw up an action plan, alongside individuals, to address any issues.
  • Giving something back – Broadacres support as many groups as possible and have a ‘Community Development Fund’ of £12,000 per annum that enables community groups and charitable organisations with a local link to apply for funding.
  • Fair deal – The organisation has introduced performance-based remuneration to motivate and reward individuals who go above and beyond their role.

Chris Fawcett, Broadacres’ Business Support Director, said: “We are delighted to have been named in The Sunday Times Best Companies Awards for the third time.

“We have always been a people-focused organisation and over the last 12 months we have strived to build a culture that empowers, engages and develops our employees.

“This accreditation is evidence that we are on the right track but we definitely won’t be resting on our laurels.

“Whether it’s providing new affordable homes, upgrading our existing properties or providing services which help the most vulnerable people in our communities, we can only do this with the hard work and dedication of our staff.

“So, the fact they feel valued and supported in their work can only help us achieve our organisational vision of making a real difference to people’s lives.”
